Maumee Virtual Academy
Maumee High School is in the process of developing a virtual academy for students in grades 9-12 - the Panther Virtual Academy - which would be offered as a full-time schooling alternative to other online academies. The value of this option lies in the full course selection offerings of Connexus, the support of MHS staff, a local site for academic assistance for virtual academy students at MHS, and a MHS diploma upon graduation. In addition, virtual academy students would be fully eligible to participate in MHS band, orchestra, mixed chorus and all athletics and extra-curricular activities.
The Panther Virtual Academy will offer the benefits of experienced local teachers while allowing the student to pursue a variety of college-preparatory courses from the home environment.
We are still in the development process of our virtual academy; developing policies and guidelines that will meet the Ohio Department of Education and Maumee Board of Education criterion for the earning of a high school diploma. If there is enough interest, our intent would be to have the academy ready to accept full-time students for the 2018-19 school year.
