School District Earns Academic Achievement (Momentum) Award

The State Board of Education and State Superintendent of Public Instruction Paolo DeMaria awarded 48 school districts in Ohio with a Momentum Award, presented for exceeding expectations in student growth for the year. To receive this award, the district must earn straight A’s on all Value-Added measures on the report card. The school or district must have at least two Value-Added subgroups of students, which includes gifted, lowest 20% in achievement, and students with disabilities. Maumee City Schools is proud to be included in the 7.8% of school districts in Ohio to receive a 2019 Momentum Award.

“The students, teachers, administrators, and staff honored today are shining examples to peers and colleagues around Ohio,” said State Board of Education President Laura Kohler. “We are so proud of these award recipients and the effort they put into learning, leading and growing every day. We are both encouraged and challenged by the example of excellence they are setting.”

“Receiving this award validates all the hard work of district staff, students, and parents alike,” says Maumee City Schools Superintendent Dr. Todd Cramer. “Our mission denotes that Maumee is ‘a community’ that invests in every child, every day, to ensure all students find their success and receiving a 2019 Momentum Award - for exceeding expectations for student growth - is an achievement the entire community shares.”
