S.T.E.A.M. Labs

S.T.E.A.M. Labs are learning environments in all five Maumee schools that provide hands-on, creative ways to encourage students to design, experiment, invent, and build as they learn. We call them our MakerSpaces and each is designed to accommodate a wide range of activities, tools, and materials – all of which are critical to students’ design, creation, and exploration process. Many schools talk about S.T.E.M. education (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) but in Maumee City Schools we have integrated "the arts" into our S.T.E.A.M. curriculum to give students the opportunity to engage their creativity in even more unique ways.

Maumee is proud to be a destination for districts hoping to create their own S.T.E.A.M. Labs/MakerSpaces. To date, more than 150 district and business representatives have visited our MakerSpaces and met with staff for insights and advice.

Maumee High School has had a competition-level Robotics Team. Maumee participates in the VEX Robotics program with thanks to a generous donation from Buckeye Broadband. MHS Robotics joins only two other high schools in the area competing in VEX competition.
